The UMLS system is a very valuable resource for the biomedical and health science community as it provides an integrated view of various disparate biomedical terminologies. UMLS is currently used in various research projects such as biomedical natural language processing, semantic tagging, data interoperability, enhancing UMLS itself, and electronic medical records to name a few. However, there has been no effort to visualize the UMLS concepts/terms and their relationships for classroom teaching and student learning purpose.

The goal of this research project is to provide a user-friendly visualization of UMLS concepts primarily for classroom teaching and student learning.
